– Photo & Audio Memoir from Japan
Photographs captured in the top floor of a building in Osaka, which had been abandoned.
Sounds recorded in Osaka and Kyoto, 2008. Hand bound limited edition book and sound collage.
This was a project created from material captured while on exchange in Japan at Kyoto City University of Arts, Awarded by the RCA.
Inspired by Victorian era author Lafcadio Hearn and his transcriptions of ancient Japanese ghost stories, I was taken by this space in Osaka. No one had inhabited it in 50 years and I embarked on the act of exploring this space, creating the book and sound work as a response.
